Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine laboratory tests and analyses with precision and accuracy, following established protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Prepare samples, reagents, and solutions according to detailed specifications.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment, including spectrophotometers, centrifuges, and microscopes, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Record and document experimental data, observations, and results meticulously in laboratory notebooks and digital systems.
  • Assist in the setup and execution of scientific experiments under the guidance of senior researchers.
  • Conduct quality control checks on reagents, samples, and equipment to ensure data reliability.
  • Manage laboratory inventory, including ordering supplies, receiving shipments, and organizing storage.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices within the laboratory.
  • Perform routine cleaning and sterilization of laboratory glassware and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, sharing insights and contributing to a positive work environment.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques (e.g., pipetting, serial dilutions, microscopy).
  • Demonstrated experience with laboratory equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in experimental execution and data recording.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to follow complex instructions and SOPs precisely.
  • Solid understanding of laboratory safety protocols and good laboratory practices (GLP).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for data entry and reporting.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline such as Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) software.
  • Familiarity with specific analytical techniques relevant to biochemical or materials science research.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • First aid certification or willingness to obtain it.
