Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Snowplow Operator for an immediate, full-time, night shift position in the Parkwood Heights area of Bathurst, New Brunswick. This is a critical seasonal role that ensures our roads, parking lots, and public spaces remain safe and accessible throughout the winter months. As a Night Shift Snowplow Operator, you will be on the front lines, battling snow and ice to maintain essential infrastructure and provide peace of mind to the community.
Working predominantly during overnight hours, often in challenging weather conditions, your precision and reliability will be paramount. You will be responsible for operating heavy-duty snow removal equipment, including snowplows, sanders, and salt spreaders, across designated routes. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate snowplows, sanders, and other heavy equipment for snow and ice removal on designated routes, including roads, parking lots, and pathways.
- Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections of equipment, reporting any mechanical issues or maintenance needs promptly.
- Monitor weather conditions and adapt clearing strategies as necessary to ensure effective and efficient snow removal.
- Apply de-icing agents (salt, sand) as required to prevent ice formation and improve traction.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, traffic laws, and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and team members regarding route progress, challenges, and completion.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including routes, hours, and materials used.
- Perform minor equipment adjustments and routine maintenance as instructed.
- Assist with manual snow removal or other duties as assigned during periods of heavy snowfall or specific site requirements.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience operating heavy equipment, specifically snowplows and salt/sand spreaders.
- Valid Class 3 or D driver's license with air brake endorsement (or equivalent, relevant to New Brunswick).
- Clean driving record, free of major infractions for the past three years.
- Ability to work extended night shifts, often in adverse weather conditions (cold, snow, ice).
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation and winter road conditions.
- Excellent spatial awareness and attention to detail.
- Mechanical aptitude for basic equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous commercial snow removal experience in an urban or municipal setting.
- Familiarity with the road networks and geography of Bathurst and surrounding areas.
