Key Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, test, maintain, and repair various types of fire sprinkler systems, including wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems, according to industry standards and local codes.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to determine the layout and specifications of sprinkler systems.
- Cut, thread, groove, and join pipes, and install hangers, brackets, and other supports.
- Conduct thorough inspections and testing of fire sprinkler systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with all safety regulations and building codes.
- Identify and troubleshoot malfunctions or deficiencies in sprinkler systems and perform necessary repairs or replacements.
- Complete all required documentation, including work orders, inspection reports, and maintenance logs, accurately and in a timely manner.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as all relevant provincial and federal safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and team members regarding project status, potential issues, and completed work.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with evolving industry standards and technologies.
Required Skills
- Valid Sprinkler Fitter Journeyperson Certificate (328A or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience as a Sprinkler Fitter
- Thorough knowledge of NFPA standards and provincial building codes related to fire protection systems
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Excellent physical stamina and ability to work in various environments (e.g., heights, confined spaces, varying temperatures)
- Valid G-class driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional certifications in related fire protection disciplines (e.g., fire alarm, backflow prevention)
- Experience with specialized fire suppression systems (e.g., foam, clean agent)
- Familiarity with project management software or digital documentation tools
- Strong customer service and communication skills to interact with clients effectively
- OSHA 30-hour certification or equivalent safety training
