As a Freight Coordinator, you will be the central point of contact for all freight movements, ensuring efficient and timely delivery of goods while maintaining excellent communication with carriers, clients, and internal teams. You will play a critical role in managing the end-to-end freight process, from initial booking and documentation to tracking shipments and resolving any transit issues that may arise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of freight movement, including ocean, air, and ground shipments.
  • Prepare and process all necessary shipping documentation, such as bills of lading, customs forms, and invoices.
  • Track and trace shipments from origin to destination, providing real-time updates to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively with carriers, vendors, and customers to ensure smooth operations and resolve any logistical issues.
  • Negotiate freight rates with carriers to secure cost-effective and efficient transportation solutions.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all national and international shipping regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of all freight activities, expenses, and customer communications.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs within the logistics department.
  • Handle customs clearance procedures and documentation as required, collaborating with brokers.
  • Address and resolve shipment discrepancies, damages, or delays promptly and professionally.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain coordination.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and transportation management systems (TMS).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Understanding of freight regulations, customs procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with international shipping regulations and Incoterms.
  • Certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., CSCMP, APICS).
  • Familiarity with specific freight tracking platforms and EDI processes.
  • Bilingual abilities (e.g., Spanish) are a plus.
