Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Civil Engineer with a strong focus on both design and construction phases to join our dynamic team, supporting critical infrastructure projects within the Albion, Black River District, Mauritius. This pivotal role requires an individual who can seamlessly transition between conceptualizing innovative engineering solutions and overseeing their robust implementation on-site. You will be instrumental in the full project lifecycle, from initial feasibility studies and detailed design work, encompassing structural analysis and material specification, to comprehensive project management, meticulous site supervision, and ensuring strict adherence to local safety standards, international quality control protocols, and environmental regulations. We are looking for a professional who possesses an acute understanding of local building codes, environmental regulations, and best practices in civil engineering, particularly in a tropical island context. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with architects, contractors, regulatory bodies, municipal authorities, and internal stakeholders to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of engineering excellence and sustainability. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to the detailed design of civil engineering projects, including structural elements, drainage, roads, and utilities, utilizing relevant software.
  • Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and prepare comprehensive technical reports and specifications.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources, ensuring efficient project delivery from concept to completion.
  • Supervise on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and clients to resolve technical issues and optimize project outcomes.
  • Prepare tender documents, evaluate bids, and administer contracts in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Ensure all designs and construction activities comply with local building codes, environmental regulations, and international engineering standards.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience in civil engineering design and construction management
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and structural analysis software
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and quality control processes
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills
  • In-depth knowledge of Mauritian building codes and environmental regulations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related specialization
  • Professional engineering license or registration (e.g., IEM, ICE)
  • Experience with coastal engineering or water resource management projects
