Key Responsibilities
- Lead engaging and informative tours across various Mauritian landscapes and cultural sites.
- Provide expert commentary on local history, culture, flora, fauna, and geography.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all tour participants throughout the duration of the tour.
- Manage all tour logistics, including transportation, timings, and activity coordination.
- Act as the primary point of contact for guests, addressing questions and resolving any issues promptly and professionally.
- Adapt tour narratives and activities to suit the interests and needs of diverse groups.
- Promote responsible tourism practices and respect for local environments and communities.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism, enthusiasm, and energy at all times.
- Complete administrative tasks such as tour reports, feedback collection, and equipment checks.
Required Skills
- Fluent in English and French (written and spoken)
- Extensive knowledge of Mauritian history, culture, geography, and biodiversity
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong leadership and group management abilities
- Valid Mauritian Driving License (car/van)
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays
- Physical fitness to conduct active tours (hiking, walking, swimming)
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Tourism, Hospitality, or a related field
- Proficiency in additional languages (e.g., German, Italian, Mandarin)
- Previous experience as a tour guide in Mauritius or a similar tropical destination
- Specialized certifications in adventure activities (e.g., hiking guide, snorkeling instructor)
- Knowledge of local Creole dialects
