Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and innovative Agricultural Scientist to join our dynamic research team in Central Portage, Portage. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in developing sustainable agricultural practices, improving crop yields, and enhancing the overall resilience of farming systems. You will conduct cutting-edge research, design and implement field and laboratory experiments, and analyze complex data to derive actionable insights. This position requires a proactive individual with a strong foundation in agronomy, soil science, plant pathology, or a related field, coupled with a passion for driving agricultural advancement. You will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams, including engineers, environmental scientists, and local farming communities, to translate research findings into practical applications. Our ideal candidate is someone who is not only proficient in scientific methodology but also possesses excellent communication skills to disseminate findings effectively to both scientific peers and non-technical stakeholders. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, and analyze field and greenhouse experiments related to crop improvement, soil health, pest management, and nutrient cycling.
  • Collect, process, and interpret complex data using statistical software and present findings in clear, concise reports and presentations.
  • Develop and implement innovative strategies for sustainable agricultural practices, including water conservation, reduced chemical dependency, and organic farming methods.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to integrate research findings into practical farming solutions.
  • Stay abreast of the latest scientific literature, technologies, and trends in agricultural science.
  • Prepare grant proposals and secure funding for research projects.
  • Mentor junior scientists and technicians, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team environment.
  • Ensure all research activities comply with safety regulations and ethical guidelines.
  • Communicate research outcomes to stakeholders, including farmers, industry representatives, and academic communities.

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. in Agronomy, Plant Science, Soil Science, Horticulture, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-doctoral or relevant industry experience in agricultural research.
  • Proven expertise in experimental design, statistical analysis, and data interpretation.
  • Strong understanding of crop physiology, soil-plant interactions, and nutrient management.
  • Proficiency with scientific software (e.g., R, SAS, JMP) for data analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of peer-reviewed publications.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel for field work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with remote sensing technologies and GIS applications in agriculture.
  • Knowledge of integrated pest management (IPM) strategies and sustainable farming certifications.
  • Familiarity with agricultural policy and regulatory frameworks.
