Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scientific research projects focused on crop yield optimization, plant pathology, and soil health.
- Conduct comprehensive field trials, greenhouse experiments, and laboratory analyses.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret complex data using advanced statistical methods and software.
- Develop and evaluate new agricultural techniques, technologies, and crop varieties.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, research papers, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams including agronomists, engineers, and environmental specialists.
- Provide expert scientific advice and recommendations to support sustainable farming practices.
- Stay abreast of the latest scientific advancements, industry trends, and regulatory changes in agriculture.
- Mentor junior scientists and actively participate in knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets efficiently.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Agricultural Science, Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience in agricultural research and development.
- Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of plant physiology, soil science, entomology, and pathology.
- Proficiency in experimental design, statistical analysis software (e.g., R, SAS, JMP, SPSS), and data visualization.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and execute complex research projects from conception to completion.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing, presentations, and team collaboration.
- A valid Canadian driver's license for extensive fieldwork across various locations.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a meticulous attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with precision agriculture technologies, remote sensing, and GIS mapping software.
- Track record of peer-reviewed publications and presentations at scientific conferences.
- Prior experience in grant writing and successful project funding applications.
- Certification as a Professional Agrologist (P.Ag.) or eligibility for registration in Saskatchewan.
- Familiarity with agricultural regulatory frameworks in Canada.
- Experience with crop modeling software and predictive analytics.
