Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs on a wide range of agricultural machinery and equipment, including tractors, cultivators, harvesters, and irrigation systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults in farm machinery and implement effective solutions.
  • Assist with crop management activities, including planting, spraying, fertilising, and harvesting, ensuring adherence to schedules and quality standards.
  • Monitor crop health, identify pests and diseases, and apply appropriate treatments under supervision.
  • Support livestock management, including feeding, welfare checks, and assisting with veterinary procedures as required.
  • Operate various farm vehicles and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate records of machinery maintenance, crop treatments, and other operational data.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and environmental guidelines.
  • Assist with the installation and calibration of new farm technology and precision agriculture tools.
  • Collaborate effectively with farm managers and other team members to ensure smooth operations.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in agricultural machinery operation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic diagnostic and repair skills.
  • Familiarity with modern farming practices and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding outdoor environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Valid UK driving licence and experience operating various farm vehicles.
  • Good physical fitness and ability to perform manual tasks.
  • Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and data entry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with precision agriculture technologies (e.g., GPS guidance systems, variable rate application).
  • Knowledge of crop protection products and safe application practices.
  • Forklift operation certificate.
  • Experience with livestock handling and care.
