Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and execute comprehensive API test cases and test suites using industry-standard tools like Postman, SoapUI, or Swagger.
- Perform thorough functional, regression, integration, and performance testing for both RESTful and SOAP APIs across various environments.
- Analyze API requirements, technical specifications, and design documents to ensure thorough and accurate test coverage.
- Identify, document, track, and retest defects using robust bug tracking systems (e.g., Jira), working closely with development teams for timely resolution.
- Collaborate proactively with developers, product owners, and other QA engineers to understand API architecture, data flows, and potential integration points, providing valuable feedback throughout the entire development lifecycle.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our testing processes, tools, and automation frameworks, seeking opportunities to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain automated API tests, integrating them into our CI/CD pipelines to facilitate rapid and reliable deployments.
- Monitor API performance, scalability, and stability, providing detailed reports on testing progress, results, and critical metrics to stakeholders.
- Participate actively in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives, ensuring quality is embedded from the outset of every project.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging industry trends, tools, and best practices in API testing and quality assurance.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in API testing using tools like Postman, SoapUI, or similar.
- Solid understanding of RESTful principles, HTTP protocols, and API architectural styles.
- Proficiency in working with JSON and XML data formats.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript) for test automation.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
- Strong analytical skills with an excellent eye for detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with bug tracking and project management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner).
- Knowledge of security testing principles for APIs.
