Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic tests to identify mechanical and electrical issues in vehicles.
- Execute repairs and maintenance on various vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, and suspension.
- Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections and recommend necessary services or repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of all services performed, parts used, and time spent.
- Adhere strictly to safety standards and procedures in the workshop.
- Collaborate effectively with service advisors and other technicians to ensure efficient workflow.
- Stay updated with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques through continuous learning.
- Ensure all work is completed to high-quality standards and within specified timelines.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Automotive Technician, Mechanic, or similar role (minimum 3 years).
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities for automotive systems.
- Proficiency with various hand and power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Solid understanding of vehicle systems and components (e.g., engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical).
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Red Seal Certification (or equivalent international qualification recognized in Canada).
- ASE Certification (or international equivalent) in specific automotive areas.
- Experience with specific vehicle brands or advanced diagnostic software.
- Formal automotive vocational training or apprenticeship.
- Basic proficiency in English (for non-native speakers, a commitment to improving is highly valued).
- Experience working in a fast-paced dealership or independent repair shop environment.
