Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and motivated Bioinformatics Scientist to join our innovative, remote-first team. This critical role involves spearheading the analysis, interpretation, and visualization of large-scale biological datasets, primarily focusing on genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing robust bioinformatics pipelines, statistical models, and machine learning algorithms to uncover novel biological insights that drive our research and development initiatives forward. Working remotely, you will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of biologists, statisticians, and software engineers. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and optimize bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis of next-generation sequencing data (RNA-seq, WGS, WES, scRNA-seq).
  • Perform statistical analysis and data mining on large genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic datasets to identify significant patterns and insights.
  • Collaborate with experimental scientists to design experiments, interpret results, and provide bioinformatics support.
  • Develop and apply machine learning algorithms for predictive modeling, classification, and feature selection.
  • Generate comprehensive reports, visualizations, and presentations to communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and integrate new bioinformatics tools, software, and public databases into existing workflows.
  • Maintain high-quality documentation of all analyses, code, and methodologies.
  • Contribute to scientific publications, grant applications, and intellectual property development.

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of post-doctoral or industry experience in bioinformatics.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy) and R for data analysis and visualization.
  • Strong experience with various bioinformatics tools and public databases (e.g., NCBI, UCSC Genome Browser, Ensembl, GTEx).
  • Expertise in statistical analysis, machine learning techniques, and experimental design.
  • Solid understanding of molecular biology, genetics, and genomics principles.
  • Experience with high-performance computing (HPC) environments and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with single-cell sequencing data analysis (e.g., Seurat, Scanpy).
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Singularity).
  • Prior experience in drug discovery, clinical genomics, or precision medicine.
  • Knowledge of version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflows.
  • Experience with workflow management systems (e.g., Nextflow, Snakemake).
