Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly motivated and skilled Biotechnologist to join our pioneering research and development team in Newcastle upon Tyne. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments in molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemistry.
  • Perform cell culture, protein expression, purification, and characterization.
  • Conduct extensive data analysis, interpretation, and present findings to project teams.
  • Develop and optimise novel biotechnological assays and protocols.
  • Maintain meticulous laboratory records, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including chemists, engineers, and clinical scientists.
  • Contribute to the drafting of scientific reports, patents, and grant applications.
  • Operate and maintain specialized laboratory equipment.
  • Stay abreast of the latest scientific literature and technological advancements in biotechnology.

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. or Master's degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on laboratory experience in a research or industrial setting.
  • Proficiency in aseptic techniques and mammalian/bacterial cell culture.
  • Demonstrated expertise in molecular cloning, PCR, qPCR, and gene expression analysis.
  • Strong background in protein purification (e.g., FPLC, HPLC) and characterization techniques (e.g., SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, ELISA).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in scientific data analysis software (e.g., GraphPad Prism, R, Python).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing or other genome engineering technologies.
  • Knowledge of bioprocess development and scale-up.
  • Familiarity with flow cytometry and microscopy techniques.
  • Experience working under GLP/GMP guidelines.
  • Prior experience with bioinformatics tools for sequence analysis.
  • Proven track record of scientific publications or patent contributions.
