Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and maintain high-pressure and low-pressure boilers, including associated equipment, in accordance with safety standards and operational procedures.
- Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and immediate repairs of boiler systems and auxiliary equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
- Perform water treatment tests and make necessary adjustments to ensure optimal boiler performance and longevity.
- Maintain accurate logs of operational data, maintenance activities, and inventory of parts and supplies.
- Adhere strictly to all provincial safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
- Collaborate with other engineering and maintenance staff to ensure seamless facility operations.
- Participate in emergency response procedures and contribute to a safe working environment.
- Assist in the training and mentorship of junior staff when required, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Boiler Engineer or similar role.
- Valid Boiler Operator Certification (e.g., Power Engineer Certificate, Class 4, 3, or 2, specific to Canadian provincial requirements).
- Strong understanding of boiler systems, controls, and associated mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing boiler malfunctions.
- Knowledge of water treatment processes and chemistry for boiler applications.
- Excellent comprehension of safety protocols and regulatory compliance (e.g., CSA B51, NBBI).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for technical reporting and team collaboration.
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada or willingness to obtain required permits/visas with support.
Preferred Qualifications
- Red Seal Endorsement in a related trade (e.g., Steamfitter/Pipefitter).
- Experience with various fuel types (e.g., natural gas, oil, biomass, electricity).
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for tracking and scheduling.
- Additional certifications in HVAC, refrigeration, or plumbing.
- Experience working in diverse industrial or commercial settings, showcasing adaptability.
- Proficiency in English; additional language skills are an asset.
