In this full-time position, you will be responsible for the precise and efficient installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on various residential and commercial properties. Your daily tasks will involve working safely at heights, managing equipment, and ensuring all installations meet stringent quality and safety standards. You’ll interpret blueprints, perform electrical wiring for DC systems, and connect inverters, all while adhering to local codes and regulations. Key Responsibilities

  • Install solar panels, racking systems, and associated electrical components on residential and commercial roofs and ground mounts.
  • Perform essential electrical wiring for DC systems, including stringing and wiring inverters and optimizers.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, building codes, and industry best practices.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings accurately.
  • Conduct pre-installation site assessments and post-installation inspections to ensure quality.
  • Work collaboratively with electricians, project managers, and other team members.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work site, including proper tool and equipment management.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor technical issues during installation.
  • Educate clients on basic system operation and maintenance as required.
  • Contribute to a positive and respectful team environment.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in solar panel installation (1-2 years minimum).
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Basic understanding of electrical principles and DC wiring.
  • Ability to work at heights and lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal).
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification from a recognized solar training program (e.g., NABCEP, CanREA).
  • Working at Heights certification.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience with various racking systems and inverter technologies.
  • Familiarity with local Nova Scotia building codes and electrical regulations.
