Career.zycto is actively seeking an experienced and passionate Camera Operator to join our dynamic production team in Greater Sudbury, Ontario. Key Responsibilities
- Operate professional video cameras (DSLR, Mirrorless, Cinema Cameras) for various productions, ensuring optimal framing, focus, and exposure.
- Set up, calibrate, and maintain camera equipment, including lenses, tripods, monitors, and stabilization systems.
- Collaborate with directors, producers, and lighting technicians to achieve desired visual aesthetics and capture compelling footage.
- Assist with lighting setup and placement to enhance scene mood and subject visibility.
- Conduct pre-production planning, including equipment checks and location scouting when necessary.
- Manage and organize recorded media, ensuring proper data storage and backup procedures.
- Troubleshoot technical issues with camera and related equipment on location.
- Adhere to production schedules and deadlines while maintaining a high standard of work.
- Maintain a professional demeanor on set and foster a positive, collaborative working environment.
- Stay updated with industry trends, new camera technologies, and best practices in cinematography.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Camera Operator or Cinematographer (minimum 3 years).
- Expertise in operating professional digital cameras and associated accessories.
- Strong understanding of visual storytelling, composition, lighting principles, and color theory.
- Proficiency in setting up and adjusting various camera settings (ISO, aperture, shutter speed, white balance).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical ability to lift and carry camera equipment, and stand/move for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Film Production, Broadcasting, Media Arts, or a related field.
- Experience with various camera brands (e.g., Sony, Canon, Blackmagic, RED) and relevant software.
- Familiarity with sound recording equipment and basic audio mixing.
- Knowledge of post-production workflows, including basic editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve).
- Experience with specialized camera techniques (e.g., drone operation, gimbal work, motion control).
- Portfolio or showreel demonstrating diverse camera operating skills.
