Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
- Monitor and record vital signs, intake and output, and document observations accurately in electronic health records.
- Support residents with mobility and transfers, utilizing proper body mechanics and assistive devices as needed.
- Assist nurses with treatments and procedures as delegated and within scope of practice.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment for residents, ensuring comfort and infection control.
- Respond promptly to resident calls and requests, providing compassionate and timely assistance.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members regarding resident status and concerns.
- Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and state/federal regulations governing nursing care.
- Participate in care planning and team meetings to contribute to individualized resident care plans.
- Encourage residents' independence and participation in social and recreational activities.
Required Skills
- Current and valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the state of New Jersey.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Demonstrated compassion, empathy, and patience in providing care to geriatric residents.
- Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with residents, families, and staff.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift, transfer, and reposition residents safely.
- Basic computer proficiency for electronic health record documentation.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 months of experience as a CNA in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility.
- Familiarity with PointClickCare or similar electronic health record systems.
- Experience working in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Bilingual skills (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese) are a plus.
