Key Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, intake and output, and document observations accurately in electronic health records.
  • Support residents with mobility and transfers, utilizing proper body mechanics and assistive devices as needed.
  • Assist nurses with treatments and procedures as delegated and within scope of practice.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment for residents, ensuring comfort and infection control.
  • Respond promptly to resident calls and requests, providing compassionate and timely assistance.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members regarding resident status and concerns.
  • Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and state/federal regulations governing nursing care.
  • Participate in care planning and team meetings to contribute to individualized resident care plans.
  • Encourage residents' independence and participation in social and recreational activities.

Required Skills

  • Current and valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the state of New Jersey.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Demonstrated compassion, empathy, and patience in providing care to geriatric residents.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with residents, families, and staff.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift, transfer, and reposition residents safely.
  • Basic computer proficiency for electronic health record documentation.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 months of experience as a CNA in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility.
  • Familiarity with PointClickCare or similar electronic health record systems.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Bilingual skills (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese) are a plus.
