Job Description
Seed Co Limited is seeking an visionary and results-oriented Chief Digital Officer (CDO) to lead our digital transformation journey. This pivotal executive role, based at our Mazowe R&D Station, is critical to shaping and executing our comprehensive digital strategy, aligning it with our core business objectives of enhancing agricultural productivity and market leadership. The CDO will be responsible for driving digital innovation across all facets of Seed Co’s operations, from research and development and production to marketing, sales, and customer engagement. This includes spearheading the adoption of advanced digital technologies, fostering a data-driven culture, and optimizing our digital channels to improve operational efficiency, market reach, and farmer support. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of digital trends, emerging technologies, and their application within the agricultural sector, particularly in an African context. You will be instrumental in identifying new digital business models, enhancing our e-commerce capabilities, and leveraging analytics to unlock new value and insights. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive digital strategy aligned with Seed Co's overall business objectives and growth ambitions.
- Lead the digital transformation initiatives across all departments, including R&D, production, supply chain, marketing, and sales.
- Drive innovation by identifying and integrating emerging digital technologies (e.g., IoT, AI, machine learning, blockchain) relevant to agribusiness.
- Oversee the development and optimization of digital platforms, e-commerce solutions, and mobile applications to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
- Champion a data-driven culture, establishing robust analytics capabilities to inform strategic decision-making and identify new business opportunities.
- Manage and mentor a team of digital professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure digital security, compliance, and governance across all digital assets and initiatives.
- Collaborate with executive leadership, department heads, and external partners to identify and implement digital solutions that create value.
- Monitor market trends, competitive landscapes, and technological advancements to keep Seed Co at the forefront of digital agriculture.
- Manage the digital budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and demonstrable ROI on digital investments.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in digital strategy, technology leadership, or digital transformation roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful digital strategies that drove significant business growth and efficiency.
- Strong understanding of current and emerging digital technologies and their application in enterprise environments.
- Expertise in data analytics, business intelligence, and digital marketing strategies.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
