Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead educators in planning and implementing age-appropriate educational and recreational activities.
- Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages children's social and emotional development.
- Support children with daily routines, including meal times, nap times, and personal hygiene.
- Observe and document children's progress and behaviour, communicating effectively with lead educators and parents.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of childcare facilities and equipment.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operation of the program and adherence to all licensing regulations.
- Participate in professional development and training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Provide first aid and emergency care as needed, following established protocols.
Required Skills
- Strong passion for working with children and fostering their development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
- Basic understanding of child development principles and best practices.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Clear Criminal Record Check (including vulnerable sector check).
- Legally eligible to work in Canada or meet criteria for sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized Early Childhood Education (ECE) Assistant program or equivalent.
- Previous experience working in a licensed childcare setting.
- Knowledge of BC Child Care Licensing Regulations.
- Fluency in a second language relevant to our diverse community.
- Experience with play-based learning methodologies.
