Key Responsibilities
- Operate Class 2 HGV vehicles safely and efficiently, adhering to all road traffic laws and company policies.
- Conduct thorough daily vehicle checks (pre and post-shift) and report any defects promptly.
- Load and unload goods, ensuring secure transportation and safe handling of various freight types.
- Plan and execute delivery routes, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries to customers.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, collections, and vehicle logs, including digital tachograph data.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members regarding delivery schedules and potential issues.
- Adhere to strict health and safety regulations, including manual handling procedures.
- Represent the company professionally at all times.
- Ensure compliance with driver hours and working time directive regulations.
Required Skills
- Valid UK Class 2 (Category C) HGV driving license.
- Valid Driver Qualification Card (CPC).
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
- Minimum 2 years (24 months) commercial driving experience with Class 2 vehicles.
- Excellent understanding of driver hours, working time directives, and road safety regulations.
- Strong geographical knowledge of Scotland, particularly the Aberdeen area.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including loading and unloading goods.
- Clear communication skills and a professional demeanor.
- Clean driving record with no more than 6 penalty points.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specific types of freight (e.g., palletised goods, abnormal loads).
- Forklift truck license (e.g., Counterbalance, Reach).
- Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
