Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient consultations, taking accurate histories, and performing thorough physical examinations.
  • Diagnose and manage common medical, surgical, and obstetric conditions in alignment with established clinical protocols.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory investigations and imaging studies.
  • Develop and implement individualized patient treatment plans, including prescribing medications and recommending further care.
  • Perform minor surgical procedures, wound care, and other clinical interventions as required.
  • Provide health education and counseling to patients and their families on disease prevention, management, and healthy lifestyles.
  • Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date patient medical records.
  • Collaborate effectively with nurses, medical assistants, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Participate in continuous professional development activities and regular clinical audits.
  • Adhere strictly to professional ethics, legal requirements, and facility policies.

Required Skills

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution.
  • Valid practicing license from the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya.
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification clinical experience in a busy healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and managing common medical, surgical, and obstetric conditions.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient counseling skills.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • High level of integrity, empathy, and professionalism.
  • Excellent record-keeping and organizational abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a community-based health center or primary care facility.
  • Proficiency in basic emergency medical procedures.
  • Additional training or certification in specialized areas such as mental health, pediatrics, or family planning.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
