Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a dedicated and thorough Custodian to join our team for immediate hire in the prestigious Downtown Bel Air area. This full-time position is crucial to maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall excellent condition of our facilities. As a Custodian, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment for all staff, clients, and visitors. Your daily responsibilities will span a wide range of tasks, from routine cleaning to addressing specific sanitation needs. You will be responsible for sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and polishing surfaces to a pristine condition. Beyond the daily tasks, you will also be integral in managing waste, ensuring proper disposal and recycling practices are followed, and maintaining adequate stock levels of cleaning supplies. This role requires a proactive approach, excellent time management skills, and the ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with the wider team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and polishing surfaces in offices, hallways, restrooms, and common areas.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors, ensuring high standards of hygiene.
  • Empty waste bins and transport trash and waste to disposal areas, adhering to recycling protocols.
  • Clean windows, glass surfaces, and interior partitions.
  • Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper in restrooms and kitchenettes.
  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, such as vacuums, floor buffers, and carpet cleaners.
  • Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, notifying management when reordering is necessary.
  • Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damage to property to the appropriate personnel.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Assist with minor repairs or setup/takedown for events as needed.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a custodian, janitor, or in a similar cleaning role.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies, and ability to use them safely.
  • Familiarity with various cleaning techniques and equipment.
  • Ability to handle heavy equipment and perform physical tasks (e.g., lifting, bending, standing for extended periods).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards of cleanliness.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Reliability and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in commercial or corporate facility cleaning.
  • Basic knowledge of minor maintenance and repair tasks.
  • First Aid/CPR certification (desirable but not mandatory).
