Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive dental prophylaxis, scaling, and root planing procedures.
  • Conduct thorough oral health assessments, including charting, periodontal probing, and medical history review.
  • Administer topical fluoride and apply dental sealants as indicated.
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, nutrition, and preventive dental care strategies.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and detailed patient records in compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Take, process, and interpret dental radiographs (X-rays) following safety protocols.
  • Sterilize instruments, disinfect operatory rooms, and maintain a clean, organized clinical environment.
  • Assist the dentist during various dental procedures and emergencies as needed.
  • Adhere to all provincial and national dental hygiene regulations, standards of practice, and infection control guidelines.
  • Provide post-operative instructions and patient follow-up care to ensure optimal healing and comfort.

Required Skills

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Dental Hygienist in Quebec (ODHQ).
  • Minimum 2 years of proven clinical experience as a Dental Hygienist.
  • Proficiency in performing all standard dental hygiene procedures and patient care techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a valued member of a collaborative team.
  • A compassionate, empathetic, and patient-focused approach to care.
  • Fluency in English (knowledge of French is a strong asset).
  • Proficiency with dental software and digital radiography systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene or equivalent advanced education.
  • Experience with specific dental practice management software (e.g., Dentrix, Abeldent, Open Dental).
  • Certification in local anesthesia administration (if not already part of initial licensure).
  • Experience working with diverse patient populations and cultural backgrounds.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) to serve Montreal's multicultural community.
