Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Learning & Development to lead our talent enhancement initiatives in Mashonaland East Province. This pivotal role is responsible for the overall strategic direction, design, development, and implementation of all learning and development programs across the organization. The successful candidate will be a visionary leader passionate about cultivating a culture of continuous learning and growth, ensuring our employees have the skills and knowledge necessary to drive business success and adapt to an ever-evolving market.

You will work closely with senior leadership, department heads, and HR business partners to identify critical skill gaps, forecast future capability needs, and design innovative solutions that foster professional development, leadership excellence, and organizational effectiveness. This includes everything from onboarding programs and technical training to leadership academies, career pathing, and performance management support. We are looking for someone who can not only build a robust L&D framework but also inspire engagement and demonstrate the tangible impact of their initiatives on individual and collective performance. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive learning and development strategy aligned with Career.zycto's business objectives and long-term vision.
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of innovative training programs, including leadership development, technical skills training, soft skills enhancement, and compliance training.
  • Conduct thorough needs assessments to identify skill gaps, performance deficiencies, and emerging development needs across all levels of the organization.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of all L&D programs through robust metrics and feedback mechanisms, making data-driven adjustments to ensure continuous improvement and measurable impact.
  • Oversee the selection, implementation, and optimization of learning technologies and platforms (LMS, e-learning tools, virtual classrooms).
  • Coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing L&D team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Manage the L&D budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and efficiently to maximize impact.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners and line managers to integrate L&D initiatives with talent management, performance appraisal, and succession planning processes.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging learning technologies, and adult learning theories to continuously innovate our L&D offerings.
  • Champion a culture of continuous learning, personal accountability, and professional growth throughout the organization.

Required Skills

  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Learning & Development, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or director-level role.
  • Proven track record of designing, implementing, and evaluating successful L&D strategies and programs.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and learning technologies.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, multiple priorities, and tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting to measure program effectiveness and ROI.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning content creation tools.
  • Strategic thinking with a practical, results-oriented approach.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications in areas such as CPTD (Certified Professional in Talent Development), ATD (Association for Talent Development), or Executive Coaching.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic industry.
  • Familiarity with talent management software and HRIS integration.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Shona or Ndebele is a plus.
