Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking an electrifying and highly skilled freelance DJ to bring unparalleled energy to various festivals and special events across Quebec City and the surrounding region. Key Responsibilities

  • Curate and perform dynamic DJ sets tailored to specific festival themes, audience demographics, and desired atmosphere.
  • Operate and troubleshoot professional DJ equipment, including mixers, turntables/CDJs, and sound systems, ensuring seamless transitions and optimal audio quality.
  • Engage with the audience, building rapport and maintaining a high-energy environment throughout performances.
  • Collaborate effectively with event organizers, technical crews, and other artists to ensure smooth event flow and coordination.
  • Manage music libraries, ensuring a diverse and up-to-date selection of tracks across various genres.
  • Adhere to event schedules and timeframes, demonstrating punctuality and professionalism.
  • Maintain and transport personal DJ equipment safely and efficiently (if applicable).

Required Skills

  • Proven expertise in DJing, including beatmatching, mixing, scratching, and sound manipulation.
  • Extensive knowledge of music genres and current trends relevant to festival environments.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard DJ software (e.g., Serato DJ, rekordbox, Traktor, Ableton Live).
  • Exceptional ability to read and energize a crowd, adapting sets on the fly.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to perform under pressure in dynamic, fast-paced event settings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience performing at large-scale festivals, concerts, or major public events.
  • A recognizable personal brand or strong online presence (e.g., SoundCloud, Mixcloud, social media).
  • Fluency in both English and French (bilingualism highly valued in Quebec).
  • Experience with live looping, effects, or integrating live instrumentation.
  • Own professional-grade DJ equipment.
