Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently load and unload freight by hand or using appropriate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).
- Sort and stage cargo according to destination, size, and type, ensuring proper segregation.
- Verify freight counts and check for damages, accurately documenting any discrepancies.
- Operate scanning equipment to track inbound and outbound shipments.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment on the dock and in the warehouse.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, company policies, and transportation regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
- Perform routine checks on equipment and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs.
- Assist with other general warehouse duties as needed.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy freight (up to 50-75 lbs) consistently.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and physical stamina.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures in a warehouse/dock setting.
- Effective communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (6+ months) as a dock worker, warehouse associate, or in a similar cargo handling role.
- Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment (certification a plus).
- Familiarity with scanning systems and inventory management basics.
- High School Diploma or GED.
