Key Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicles in a safe and efficient manner, adhering strictly to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Execute timely and accurate deliveries of goods to various locations within Kingston and surrounding areas.
- Load and unload goods, ensuring proper handling, securing, and verification against delivery manifests.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, records, and documentation, including proof of delivery and vehicle inspection reports.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the company vehicle, reporting any maintenance issues or defects promptly.
- Ensure the cleanliness and presentability of the company vehicle at all times.
- Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, interacting professionally and courteously with clients.
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS and local knowledge to optimize delivery times.
- Assist with warehouse duties, including inventory loading/unloading and organization, as required.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and protect goods.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and customers regarding delivery status or potential delays.
Required Skills
- Valid General Driver's License (Class A or equivalent for commercial vehicles)
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable professional driving experience in Jamaica
- Excellent knowledge of Kingston and surrounding areas' road networks and traffic regulations
- Strong command of written and spoken English
- Ability to lift and move heavy packages (up to 50 lbs) regularly
- Proven track record of punctuality, reliability, and responsibility
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge and troubleshooting skills
- Clean driving record with no major violations
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs) or delivery management software
- Previous experience in logistics, courier, or freight delivery services
- Customer service experience in a client-facing role
- Defensive driving certification
