Key Responsibilities
- Accurately measure, cut, and install drywall sheets on walls and ceilings to specified dimensions, minimizing material waste.
- Fasten drywall panels securely to studs or joists using appropriate tools and fasteners.
- Apply tape and multiple coats of joint compound to seams, corners, and fastener depressions, ensuring smooth and consistent finishes.
- Sand finished surfaces meticulously to prepare them for painting, wallpapering, or other decorative finishes.
- Carefully inspect work to ensure it meets quality standards, adheres to blueprints, and complies with project specifications.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times, strictly adhering to all company and site-specific health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate effectively and professionally with site supervisors, general contractors, and other construction trades.
- Safely transport and handle construction materials and tools across the job site.
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor installation issues or imperfections efficiently on-site.
- Protect surrounding areas and surfaces from dust and damage during installation and finishing processes.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Drywall Installer or Finisher in a professional construction setting.
- Proficiency in all aspects of drywall installation, including measuring, cutting, hanging, taping, mudding, and sanding.
- Demonstrated ability to read and accurately interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Strong understanding and strict adherence to construction site safety practices and protocols.
- Excellent physical stamina, manual dexterity, and the ability to lift heavy materials.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a steadfast commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Reliable transportation to various job sites located across Birkenhead and the wider Liverpool area.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Plastering or Drylining.
- Valid CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) for site access.
- Prior experience with a variety of drywall systems, including standard, fire-rated, sound-resistant, and moisture-resistant boards.
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations pertinent to drywall installation.
- Experience working with a recruitment agency or on diverse, fast-paced project sites.
- Possession of own basic hand tools for drywall installation.
