Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and implement engaging and age-appropriate early learning activities aligned with provincial curriculum guidelines.
  • Observe and assess children's progress, maintaining accurate records and communicating regularly with parents/guardians.
  • Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment that promotes children's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Collaborate effectively with co-workers, parents, and community resources to support children's holistic growth.
  • Ensure compliance with all licensing regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and team meetings to enhance educational practices.
  • Administer first aid or emergency care when necessary, following established protocols.

Required Skills

  • Level 2 or 3 Early Childhood Educator certification (or equivalent recognized by Alberta Child Care Licensing)
  • Minimum of 1 year (12 months) of demonstrable experience working with young children in a licensed childcare setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport with children, parents, and staff.
  • Strong understanding of child development principles and play-based learning philosophies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with diverse cultural backgrounds and second language learners.
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • Proficiency in additional languages relevant to Edmonton's diverse population.
  • Experience in curriculum development and program planning.
