Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fleet Manager to oversee and optimize our client’s diverse fleet operations, based near London Bridge. This is a crucial role for an international professional looking to leverage their expertise in a bustling, dynamic city. As Fleet Manager, you will be responsible for the efficient, cost-effective, and safe management of a significant vehicle fleet, ensuring compliance with all UK transport regulations, industry standards, and company policies.

Your day-to-day will involve a comprehensive range of activities from strategic planning and budget management to hands-on operational oversight. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring vehicle availability, minimizing downtime, and enhancing the overall performance of the fleet. This includes managing vehicle procurement and disposal, negotiating with suppliers, overseeing maintenance schedules, and implementing robust safety protocols. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive fleet management strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of fleet vehicles, including procurement, registration, maintenance, repair, and disposal.
  • Manage fleet budgets, analyse costs, and identify opportunities for efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all relevant UK transport laws, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., Operator Licensing, tachograph regulations).
  • Implement and monitor robust health and safety protocols for all fleet operations and drivers.
  • Negotiate and manage relationships with external suppliers, garages, and service providers.
  • Monitor vehicle performance, fuel consumption, and operational efficiency using telematics and data analysis.
  • Manage driver training, licensing, and performance, fostering a culture of safe and responsible driving.
  • Coordinate vehicle breakdowns and roadside assistance, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of all fleet-related activities, inspections, and compliance documentation.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in fleet management (minimum 5 years).
  • In-depth knowledge of UK transport legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, and repair processes.
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Proficiency in fleet management software and telematics systems.
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Valid UK driving licence (or equivalent transferable licence).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in Road Haulage.
  • Experience managing a diverse fleet including various vehicle types.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and sustainable fleet practices.
  • Degree or professional qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Project management experience.
