Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive flight plans, including route selection, fuel calculations, and payload distribution, optimizing for safety and efficiency.
- Monitor real-time weather conditions, NOTAMs, and other operational data, providing critical updates and advisories to flight crews.
- Maintain continuous communication with flight crews throughout all phases of flight, offering support and making real-time operational decisions.
- Ensure strict adherence to all national and international aviation regulations (e.g., ICAO, Transport Canada), company policies, and safety standards.
- Collaborate closely with pilots, air traffic control, maintenance, and ground operations personnel to ensure seamless and coordinated operations.
- Evaluate and manage operational risks, developing contingency plans for diversions, delays, and other irregular operations.
- Prepare and maintain accurate flight records, reports, and documentation.
- Participate in emergency response procedures and drills as required.
Required Skills
- Valid Transport Canada Flight Dispatcher license/certificate
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Flight Dispatcher in an airline or air transport environment
- In-depth knowledge of aviation meteorology, air navigation, aircraft performance, and flight planning software
- Proficiency in aviation regulations (e.g., CARs), ICAO standards, and NOTAM interpretation
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
- Ability to make critical decisions rapidly and effectively under pressure
- Fluency in English (French is an asset)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specific flight planning software (e.g., Lido, Jeppesen, Sabre)
- Familiarity with operations in Canadian airspace and international routes
- Previous experience working with a diverse fleet of aircraft
