Key Responsibilities
- Patrol and monitor designated forest and natural areas, reporting observations and maintaining a visible presence.
- Assist in the enforcement of rules, regulations, and laws pertaining to forest use, public safety, and environmental protection.
- Engage with the public, providing information, educational outreach, and assistance to visitors regarding local ecosystems and regulations.
- Participate in forest maintenance activities, including trail upkeep, litter removal, and basic facility repairs.
- Aid in emergency response situations, such as search and rescue operations or initial fire suppression efforts, under supervision.
- Collect and record data related to wildlife, vegetation, public use, and environmental conditions.
- Operate and maintain a variety of tools and equipment safely and effectively as required for duties.
- Report incidents, safety concerns, and potential violations to senior officers or management in a timely manner.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrains
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Basic problem-solving abilities and a proactive attitude
- Physical fitness to perform duties such as hiking, lifting, and standing for extended periods
- Willingness to learn and adhere to safety protocols and environmental regulations
- Demonstrated commitment to environmental stewardship and public service
Preferred Qualifications
- Some college-level coursework in environmental science, forestry, natural resources, or a related field
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Previous experience participating in outdoor activities or volunteer work related to conservation
