Job Description
Kellogg’s, a global leader in food manufacturing, is seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Forklift Loader to join our night rotation team at our bustling Stretford, Manchester facility. Working on a critical night rotation, your vigilance and precision will ensure that our production lines are continuously supplied and that finished products are stored and prepared for dispatch without delay. This role requires a high level of responsibility, a keen eye for detail, and an unwavering commitment to health and safety regulations. You will operate various types of forklifts, primarily counterbalance, in a fast-paced environment, navigating busy aisles and collaborating closely with production, warehousing, and logistics teams. Key Responsibilities
- Operate counterbalance and potentially other types of forklifts (e.g., reach trucks) safely and efficiently for loading, unloading, and moving materials.
- Accurately move, stack, and retrieve raw materials, packaging, work-in-progress, and finished products within the warehouse and production areas.
- Perform pre-shift inspections of forklifts and other equipment, reporting any defects or safety concerns immediately.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, company policies, and food safety standards, including HACCP principles.
- Assist with inventory management, ensuring accurate stock rotation (FIFO) and reporting discrepancies to supervisors.
- Load and unload lorries and containers, ensuring goods are secured properly for transit and checking documentation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment, including aisles, storage areas, and equipment.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth operational flow during night shifts.
- Complete necessary paperwork and electronic records accurately and promptly, including shift logs and damage reports.
Required Skills
- Valid, in-date Forklift Operator license (specifically Counterbalance, accredited by RTITB or ITSSAR).
- Minimum of 1 year proven experience operating forklifts in a fast-paced manufacturing or warehousing environment.
- Strong understanding and demonstrable commitment to health and safety regulations and procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in stock movement and record-keeping.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team effectively during night shifts.
- Good physical stamina and manual dexterity for tasks outside of forklift operation.
- Reliable, punctual, and possess a strong work ethic with a positive attitude.
- Basic communication skills to interact with team members and supervisors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) such as SAP or similar.
- Previous experience in the food manufacturing or FMCG industry.
- Knowledge of HACCP or other food safety protocols and hygiene standards.
- Additional Forklift Operator licenses (e.g., Reach Truck, VNA).
- Basic computer literacy for data entry and system navigation.
