Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Operator specializing in Shipping for an immediate start position in Putney, London. This pivotal role requires an individual with a keen eye for detail, a strong commitment to operational excellence, and proven experience in a fast-paced warehouse or distribution environment. As a key member of the shipping team, you will be instrumental in the efficient movement of goods, ensuring timely dispatch and receipt of materials.
You will be responsible for operating various types of forklifts, including counterbalance and reach trucks, to load and unload delivery vehicles, move stock within the warehouse, and prepare shipments according for dispatch. Accuracy is paramount; you will meticulously check incoming and outgoing goods against manifests, identify and report any discrepancies or damages, and ensure all items are stored or loaded safely and securely. Key Responsibilities
- Operate counterbalance and reach forklifts safely and efficiently for loading, unloading, and moving materials.
- Accurately load and unload goods from delivery vehicles and ensure proper storage.
- Move, stack, and retrieve materials and products within the warehouse and shipping areas.
- Verify incoming and outgoing shipments against manifests, purchase orders, and other documentation.
- Conduct thorough pre-shift inspections of forklifts and other equipment, reporting any defects or maintenance needs.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment, adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Wrap and prepare pallets for shipping, ensuring goods are securely packaged and labelled correctly.
- Assist with inventory counts, stock rotation, and general warehouse duties as required.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and external drivers to coordinate logistics.
- Identify and report any discrepancies, damages, or quality issues in shipments promptly.
Required Skills
- Valid Forklift Operator License (e.g., ITSSAR, RTITB accredited for counterbalance and reach trucks).
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience as a Forklift Operator in a shipping, warehouse, or distribution environment.
- Strong understanding and adherence to warehouse safety procedures and regulations.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in all tasks.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy objects, standing, and walking for extended periods.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with other material handling equipment such as Power Pallet Trucks (PPT) or VNA trucks.
- Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) for tracking inventory.
- Basic computer literacy for data entry and record-keeping.
- Previous experience in a logistics or supply chain role.
- First Aid certification.
