Job Description

Are you a highly skilled and passionate translator looking for a flexible, remote opportunity with immediate start? Lionbridge is seeking talented Freelance Translators to join our expansive global network of linguists. This is an exciting chance to collaborate with a world-renowned leader in language services, working on diverse and engaging content from the comfort of your home in Ha Ramokoatsi, Mafeteng, or anywhere else.

In this role, you will be responsible for translating a wide range of content – including but not limited to marketing materials, technical documents, legal texts, medical reports, and software interfaces – ensuring linguistic accuracy, cultural appropriateness, and stylistic consistency. We are looking for individuals who possess native-level fluency in at least one target language and exceptional command of their source language(s). Successful candidates will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, a strong understanding of various subject matters, and the ability to work independently while adhering to strict deadlines and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate a variety of content types (e.g., technical, marketing, legal, medical, UI) from source to target language(s) with high accuracy and fidelity.
  • Ensure translations are culturally appropriate, stylistically consistent, and adhere to client-specific terminology and style guides.
  • Utilize Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools, Translation Memory (TM), and Terminology Management (TermBase) systems efficiently.
  • Perform self-review and quality checks on all translated materials before submission.
  • Manage workload effectively to meet project deadlines and deliver high-quality translations consistently.
  • Maintain clear and proactive communication with project managers regarding project status, challenges, and queries.
  • Continuously improve linguistic skills and subject matter expertise.
  • Adhere to all confidentiality and data security protocols.
  • Provide feedback on source content clarity and identify potential issues.

Required Skills

  • Native-level fluency in at least one target language (e.g., Sesotho, English, French, German, Spanish).
  • Exceptional command of English as a source language, or other specified source languages.
  • Proven experience in professional translation.
  • Strong understanding of cultural nuances and linguistic subtleties.
  • Proficiency in using CAT tools (e.g., Trados Studio, MemoQ, Wordfast).
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Reliable internet connection and appropriate working environment for remote work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Translation, Linguistics, Modern Languages, or a related field.
  • Specialization in specific domains such as IT, Marketing, Medical, Legal, Finance, or Engineering.
  • Certification from a recognized translation association (e.g., ATA, ITI).
  • Experience with machine translation post-editing (MTPE).
  • Familiarity with various content management systems (CMS).
