Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Glazier specializing in Glass Installation to join our dynamic team, supporting leading construction projects across Greektown, Detroit. Key Responsibilities
- Measure, cut, fit, and install various types of glass, mirrors, and glazing systems in commercial and residential settings.
- Interpret blueprints, specifications, and shop drawings to determine appropriate materials and installation methods.
- Prepare and secure sashes or frames, and seal joints with caulking or other weatherproofing compounds.
- Remove and replace existing glass, including repairing or replacing broken glass panes, sashes, or frames.
- Safely handle and transport glass panels and related materials, utilizing appropriate tools and equipment.
- Operate power tools, hand tools, and lifting equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all installations meet quality standards, building codes, and client requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and other trades to coordinate work schedules and resolve issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times, adhering to all company and OSHA safety regulations.
- Provide exceptional customer service and clear communication with clients on job sites.
- Inspect work upon completion to ensure full functionality and aesthetic appeal.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Glazier, specializing in glass installation.
- Proficiency in measuring, cutting, handling, and installing various types of glass (e.g., plate, tempered, laminated, insulated).
- Familiarity with different framing systems (aluminum, steel, vinyl) and sealants.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and best practices in the glazing industry.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials, work at heights, and in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized Glazier apprenticeship program.
- OSHA 10 or 30-hour construction safety certification.
- Experience with specialty glass applications (e.g., custom shower enclosures, curtain walls, skylights).
- Familiarity with local building codes and regulations in Detroit, MI.
