Key Responsibilities
- Warmly welcome guests upon arrival, assist with check-in procedures, and provide a comprehensive overview of hotel facilities and services.
- Act as a primary point of contact for guest inquiries, requests, and concerns, ensuring timely and effective resolution to enhance guest satisfaction.
- Provide expert local recommendations for dining, attractions, tours, and cultural experiences in Kiponda and broader Zanzibar City.
- Assist with reservations for hotel services, restaurant bookings, and excursions, coordinating with relevant departments as needed.
- Handle guest feedback professionally, documenting issues and resolutions, and escalating complex problems to management when necessary.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of hotel policies, services, and current promotions, as well as local events and happenings.
- Contribute to a positive and welcoming atmosphere in the lobby and public areas, anticipating guest needs before they arise.
- Perform administrative tasks such as preparing guest amenity requests, managing mail/messages, and maintaining accurate guest records.
- Collaborate effectively with other hotel departments, including Front Office, Housekeeping, and Food & Beverage, to ensure seamless guest service.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Swahili.
- Proven experience in a customer service or guest-facing role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a friendly, approachable, and professional demeanor.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a calm, composed approach under pressure.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with hotel management systems (PMS) or ability to learn quickly.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or certification in Hospitality Management, Tourism, or a related field.
- Familiarity with the history, culture, and attractions of Zanzibar City and surrounding areas.
- Additional language proficiency (e.g., French, German, Italian) is a significant advantage.
