We are immediately seeking a proactive and experienced mechanic to ensure the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of our extensive fleet of heavy machinery. In this critical role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on a wide range of quarry equipment, including excavators, wheel loaders, dozers, haul trucks, crushers, screeners, and more. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of heavy quarry equipment, including engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and braking systems.
  • Execute preventative maintenance (PMs) on all machinery according to manufacturer specifications and company schedules to maximize uptime and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Conduct thorough inspections to identify potential issues, wear, and defects, recommending necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Utilize diagnostic software and tools to accurately pinpoint mechanical and electrical malfunctions.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, and other general repairs as needed to maintain equipment integrity.
  • Maintain detailed service records, documenting all repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, MSHA regulations, and company policies, fostering a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with quarry management, operators, and other team members to ensure efficient workflow and communication.
  • Manage and organize parts inventory, ensuring necessary components are available for timely repairs.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with industry best practices and new equipment technologies.

Required Skills

  • 3+ years of proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, preferably in a quarry, mining, or construction environment.
  • Strong proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines (e.g., Caterpillar, Cummins, John Deere).
  • Expertise in hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting and component replacement.
  • Solid understanding of heavy equipment electrical systems (12V/24V) and diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics (electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic).
  • Proficient in welding (MIG, Stick) and basic fabrication.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding outdoor environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical degree or certification in Heavy Equipment Mechanics or Diesel Technology.
  • OSHA 10/30 or MSHA certification.
  • Experience with specific OEM diagnostic software.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems for parts and supplies.
