TWM Solicitors is inviting applications for a diligent and highly organised Home-Based Employment Law Researcher to join our thriving Employment Law team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a leading regional law firm from the comfort and convenience of your home, while still being an integral part of our Woking-based practice’s research capabilities.

As a Home-Based Employment Law Researcher, you will be pivotal in providing comprehensive and up-to-date legal research to support our busy solicitors and partners. Your primary focus will be on tracking, analysing, and summarising developments in UK employment legislation, case law, and regulatory guidance. You will be responsible for producing concise and accurate research memoranda, briefing notes, and articles that will inform our legal advice, assist in litigation strategy, and contribute to our firm’s thought leadership.

This role demands a high level of autonomy, initiative, and a commitment to maintaining current knowledge of the ever-evolving landscape of employment law. You will work closely with our employment lawyers, understanding their research needs and proactively identifying relevant information to enhance their practice. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to distil complex legal concepts into clear, actionable insights. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough and accurate legal research on UK employment law, including legislation, case law, and regulatory guidance.
  • Monitor developments in employment law, identifying key changes and their potential impact on clients and firm practice.
  • Prepare concise and comprehensive research memoranda, briefing notes, and reports for solicitors and partners.
  • Assist in drafting articles, client alerts, and other legal publications for the firm's thought leadership initiatives.
  • Respond to specific research requests from the employment law team in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain an organised system for legal resources and research findings.
  • Proactively identify emerging trends and potential areas of legal interest within the employment sector.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members through virtual communication channels.
  • Ensure all research outputs adhere to the highest standards of accuracy, clarity, and relevance.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in legal research, particularly within employment law.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to interpret complex legal information.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely.
  • High level of proficiency in legal research databases (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and maintain productivity in a home-based environment.
  • Acute attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree or equivalent legal qualification.
  • Completion of the Legal Practice Course (LPC) or Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC).
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a legal research role, paralegal position, or similar, with a focus on employment law.
  • Familiarity with UK specific employment tribunals and court procedures.
