Goddard & Co Solicitors is looking for an experienced Home-Based Legal Compliance Coordinator to join our dedicated team. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in ensuring that our firm operates in strict adherence to all relevant legal and regulatory frameworks, professional conduct rules, and internal policies. This includes overseeing compliance with Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) principles, anti-money laundering (AML) regulations, data protection laws such as GDPR, and professional indemnity insurance requirements. This position requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of legal compliance principles, and the ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with various internal departments.

You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance programs, conducting regular risk assessments to identify potential areas of non-compliance, and managing data protection protocols to protect client confidentiality. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance policies and procedures in line with SRA regulations, AML directives, GDPR, and other relevant legal frameworks.
  • Conduct regular compliance audits and risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities and ensure adherence to internal controls.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes, advising senior management and relevant departments on their implications for the firm's operations.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on compliance matters, fostering a culture of regulatory awareness.
  • Manage and respond to data protection inquiries and incidents, ensuring strict adherence to GDPR and data security protocols.
  • Assist with the preparation for and coordination of external regulatory inspections and internal compliance reviews.
  • Oversee client due diligence processes and ensure proper record-keeping for AML compliance.
  • Investigate and document compliance breaches, recommending corrective actions to mitigate future risks.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a legal compliance role, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) rules, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations, and GDPR.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills for policy interpretation and risk assessment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex regulations clearly.
  • Proficiency in legal research and compliance software/databases.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a remote environment.
  • High level of integrity and professional discretion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in compliance (e.g., ICA Diploma in Compliance, AML Specialist Certification).
