Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care assistance, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Assist clients with safe mobility and transfers, utilizing proper techniques and equipment as needed.
- Perform light housekeeping duties, such as tidying living areas, laundry, and meal preparation according to dietary needs.
- Administer medication reminders as directed and meticulously observe clients for changes in condition, reporting any concerns promptly.
- Support clients with safe, accompanied walks and encourage light, appropriate exercise.
- Engage clients in stimulating activities, hobbies, and provide meaningful companionship.
- Document care provided and client observations accurately and in a timely manner, maintaining detailed records.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with clients, their families, and the care coordination team.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety protocols and maintain the utmost client confidentiality.
Required Skills
- Valid Home Health Aide (HHA) certification or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in Alabama.
- Minimum of 6 months of experience in a home health or similar caregiving setting.
- Ability to safely lift and transfer clients (up to 50 lbs) with or without assistance.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and proof of auto insurance.
- Demonstrated high level of empathy, patience, compassion, and a caring demeanor.
- Ability to follow care plans accurately, independently, and with meticulous attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Experience with clients requiring specialized care (e.g., dementia, Alzheimer's, hospice care).
- Basic understanding of nutrition and meal planning for diverse dietary restrictions.
- Proficiency in a second language, particularly Spanish, to serve a broader client base.
