Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical care to hospitalized patients, including admission H&Ps, daily rounds, diagnostic testing, treatment plans, and discharge planning.
- Manage a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions within an inpatient setting.
- Collaborate effectively with specialists, nursing staff, allied health professionals, and primary care physicians to ensure coordinated and integrated patient care.
- Perform medical consultations for surgical and other services as required.
- Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and departmental meetings.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records.
- Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.
- Supervise and mentor medical students, residents, and other trainees as opportunities arise.
- Respond to medical emergencies and code situations within the hospital.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Completion of an Internal Medicine Residency program or equivalent.
- Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM).
- Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) in Internal Medicine, or eligibility for certification.
- Demonstrated expertise in inpatient medicine and critical care management.
- Excellent diagnostic, clinical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration abilities.
- Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working as a Hospitalist in a Canadian healthcare setting.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Experience with quality improvement methodologies and patient safety initiatives.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
