Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly welcome and register arriving guests, assigning rooms and issuing keys with efficiency.
  • Process guest check-outs, handling payments accurately and professionally.
  • Manage incoming calls, emails, and online inquiries, providing comprehensive information and assistance.
  • Handle reservation requests, cancellations, and modifications with precision, ensuring accurate booking records.
  • Provide local area information, recommendations, and directions to enhance guest experience.
  • Resolve guest complaints and issues promptly and courteously, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised reception area.
  • Process various forms of payment and maintain accurate billing records.
  • Collaborate effectively with other hotel departments (housekeeping, maintenance, F&B) to ensure seamless guest service.
  • Perform general administrative duties as required by the front office management.

Required Skills

  • Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing)
  • Proven experience in a customer service role, preferably within hospitality
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in basic computer systems and hotel management software (PMS)
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure
  • A professional and friendly demeanor with a strong guest-focused approach

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Hotel Receptionist
  • Knowledge of the local York area and attractions
  • Ability to converse in additional languages
  • Familiarity with Opera PMS or similar hotel property management systems
