Key Responsibilities
- Research, investigate, and report on local news stories and events across various beats, including politics, business, community, and culture.
- Conduct in-depth interviews with sources, experts, and community members to gather accurate and relevant information.
- Write clear, concise, and compelling news articles, features, and investigative reports suitable for print and digital platforms.
- Fact-check all information, data, and quotes to ensure accuracy and adherence to journalistic standards.
- Develop and maintain a network of contacts within the community to generate leads and uncover new stories.
- Collaborate with editors, photographers, and videographers to produce comprehensive and engaging multimedia content.
- Attend press conferences, public meetings, and community events as required.
- Meet strict deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
- Adhere to ethical guidelines and legal standards in all journalistic practices.
- Engage with readers and the community through comments, social media, and direct interactions.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience as a Journalist, Reporter, or similar role.
- Demonstrated strong writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.
- Excellent research and investigative skills.
- Proficiency in interviewing techniques and source development.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong understanding of journalistic ethics and media law.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
