Career.zycto is actively seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Journeyman Electrician to strengthen our dynamic team in Heavitree, Exeter. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced professional to apply their extensive knowledge and craftsmanship to a diverse range of projects. You will be instrumental in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and components, ensuring all work adheres strictly to current wiring regulations (BS 7671) and health and safety standards. Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in accordance with relevant codes and standards.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
- Read blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to determine the method and sequence of assembly.
- Lead and mentor apprentice electricians, providing guidance and ensuring quality workmanship.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent.
- Communicate effectively with clients, project managers, and team members.
Required Skills
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical Services (or equivalent).
- AM2 (Achievement Measurement 2) assessment.
- City & Guilds 2382 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations).
- Proven experience as a Journeyman Electrician.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and relevant safety standards.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical diagrams.
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic abilities.
- Valid UK Driving Licence.
Preferred Qualifications
- City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations).
- Experience with commercial and industrial electrical installations.
- Familiarity with smart home technologies and renewable energy systems.
- First Aid certification.
- Previous experience supervising junior electricians or apprentices.
