Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior scientists and researchers in conducting various laboratory experiments and procedures.
  • Prepare samples, reagents, solutions, and media according to established protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment and instruments, ensuring proper functioning and accurate results.
  • Accurately record, organize, and maintain experimental data, observations, and results in laboratory notebooks and digital systems.
  • Perform routine quality control checks on materials and equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Adhere strictly to all laboratory safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage laboratory inventory, including ordering supplies, chemicals, and consumables, and ensuring proper storage.
  • Contribute to general lab upkeep, including cleaning glassware, sterilizing equipment, and maintaining an organized workspace.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions regarding experimental design and results.
  • Troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions and assist in identifying solutions to experimental issues.

Required Skills

  • Associate's Degree or Diploma in Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or a related scientific field.
  • Fundamental understanding of basic laboratory techniques and safety procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy in performing tasks and recording data.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for data entry and documentation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Eagerness to learn new techniques and adapt to evolving research priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a scientific discipline (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, etc.).
  • Previous experience in a laboratory setting, whether academic, volunteer, or intern.
  • Familiarity with specific analytical instrumentation (e.g., spectrophotometers, pH meters, centrifuges).
  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and ISO standards.
