As a Lab Technician specializing in Scientific Research, you will be an integral part of our cutting-edge laboratory operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Execute laboratory experiments following established protocols and precise methodologies.
  • Prepare reagents, solutions, and samples with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Operate, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance on a range of laboratory equipment (e.g., PCR cyclers, HPLC, GC, spectrophotometers, microscopes).
  • Conduct various analytical tests and meticulously record all experimental results and observations.
  • Collect, organize, and contribute to the preliminary analysis of experimental data.
  • Maintain comprehensive and organized laboratory records, logbooks, and electronic databases.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and laboratory best practices, including COSHH guidelines.
  • Manage laboratory inventory, monitor stock levels, and initiate orders for supplies and consumables.
  • Assist in the development, validation, and optimization of new experimental procedures and assays.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform minor repairs or facilitate professional servicing.
  • Collaborate effectively with senior scientists, researchers, and other team members on ongoing projects.
  • Participate in team meetings, data reviews, and contribute to the presentation of findings when required.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 2 years) as a Lab Technician or Research Assistant in a scientific research environment.
  • Proficiency in standard laboratory techniques including accurate pipetting, sterile technique, and solution/reagent preparation.
  • Hands-on experience with the operation and routine maintenance of analytical instrumentation.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and unwavering accuracy in all experimental work and data recording.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively across multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English for clear documentation and collaboration.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for data management and reporting.
  • Solid understanding of laboratory safety protocols, waste disposal procedures, and quality control principles.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field such as Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Science, or a closely related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a scientific discipline or a related technical field.
  • Specific experience with advanced research methodologies (e.g., mammalian cell culture, molecular biology techniques like Western Blotting/ELISA, flow cytometry, immunological assays).
  • Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) or similar data management software.
  • Previous experience working in a GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) or GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) compliant environment.
  • Experience in a visa-sponsored role or working within diverse, international research teams.
