Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical, psychological, and social aspects.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Administer medications accurately and safely, monitoring for therapeutic effects and adverse reactions.
- Provide skilled nursing care for patients recovering from surgery or managing various medical conditions.
- Monitor and interpret vital signs, laboratory results, and other diagnostic data, reporting changes to physicians.
- Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care techniques.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient care, observations, and interventions in the EHR.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Respond to emergencies and initiate appropriate interventions in a timely and effective manner.
- Ensure a safe and clean patient environment, adhering to infection control policies and procedures.
- Participate in professional development activities and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Massachusetts.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a Medical-Surgical setting.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and professional ethics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN) certification.
- Experience with Epic EHR system.
- Previous experience precepting or mentoring new graduate nurses.
