Key Responsibilities
- Operate trains safely and efficiently in accordance with all railway rules, regulations, and operational procedures.
- Adhere strictly to timetables, ensuring punctual arrival and departure of services.
- Monitor track conditions, signaling, and other operational indicators, reacting appropriately to maintain safety.
- Perform pre-departure checks and post-arrival procedures on trains.
- Communicate effectively with control centres, station staff, and other personnel.
- Respond promptly and correctly to emergency situations, applying established protocols.
- Maintain high levels of concentration and vigilance throughout shifts.
- Complete all required documentation accurately and promptly.
- Undertake continuous professional development and training as required.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years (60 months) experience as a qualified Train Driver.
- Valid Train Driver Licence (UK/European equivalent) and relevant certifications.
- In-depth knowledge of railway operating rules and safety regulations.
- Exceptional understanding of railway signaling systems.
- Proven track record of safe and efficient train operation.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and make sound decisions.
- Excellent attention to detail and observational skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and operational excellence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with multiple types of rolling stock relevant to the region.
- Familiarity with the Northern Ireland railway network.
- Advanced first aid certification.
- Proven ability to mentor or train junior drivers.
