As a Learning Support Assistant (LSA), you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to students with diverse learning needs, both on a one-to-one basis and within small groups. Your day will be dynamic and rewarding, assisting teachers in creating an inclusive classroom environment where every student feels valued and can flourish. You will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and parents to implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and behavioural support strategies. Your ability to build rapport with students, motivate them, and adapt your approach to their unique requirements will be key to their success. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with special educational needs (SEN), including those with learning difficulties, physical disabilities, or behavioural challenges.
  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons and activities.
  • Help prepare learning materials and resources, adapting them to suit individual student needs.
  • Monitor student progress, record observations, and provide feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Support students in developing independence, self-esteem, and social skills.
  • Assist with the implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management plans.
  • Supervise students during break times, lunchtimes, and school trips, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external professionals under the guidance of the class teacher.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.

  • Level 2 or 3 qualification in Teaching and Learning Support, or equivalent.

  • First Aid qualification.
